Gea Casolaro, Schengen. The Moselle. This is where the first agreement permitting the free circulation of European citizens was signed. Looking at these waters, how can we not think of those of the Mediterranean Sea, and all the lives that drown there, trying to reach our freedom.

Gea Casolaro, Architectural details of the facade of the City Hall of Esch-sur-Alzette. Drawings by Albert Kratzenberg, sculptures by Aurelio Sabbatini, 1936. “We want to remain what we are”: strong, courageous, strangers.

Gea Casolaro, Differdange. Monument to the 1912 strike There is no plaque to commemorate the first strike in the Luxembourg's history. Organised by the Italian workers of the blast furnaces to demand a wage increase, it cost the lives of four people including the 12-year-old Walther Schmidt, killed accidentally by a policeman's bullet. Walther Schmidt born with the beginning of the 20th century: a century full of hopes, many of which, unjustly fallen.

Gea Casolaro, Rumelange. Coat of arms on the facade of the Centre culturel. The coat of arms of the noble family of miners.

Gea Casolaro, Rumelange. Monument to Jean-Pierre Bausch deputy miner: more like him are needed.
